The only Parallel port device I ever used installed a pseudo-SCSI port icon
into my control panel. When I clicked on that I could see it was using the
printer port, but the driver looked to windows like it was a SCSI driver. I
think it even appeared in device manager under SCSI. See if you have
something like that. I was using a scanner, but I remember the driver
wasn't written by the scanner manufacturer, it was a generic communications
driver they slapped on to their product. If you can't find anything to
uninstall, you should have every reason to believe the printer will work
after a clean install of windows, so that would be my next step.
