Scanners and printers or any device that share the LPT port especially if
inter-connected most of the time give problems. If you add a zip drive,
much more so. I use a Logitech scanner, an Epson and HP printer, and a zip
drive inter-connected through their extra ports. Manufacturers of these
devices issue patches to correct these issues. I know for one that Logitech
issued "Logiscan" to correct compatibility issues. I believe this is the
patch used by these OEM's. Try to go to their sites. Also, you may have to
disable the scanner's detect mode in the startup menu, since this kind of
re-initialize the port whenever you boot-up. Just my 2 cents.
