You cd writer must support 900mb CDs, if you don't have one in hand, then
you have no other option but shop for a new unit. As fas as I aware, 900mb
CD and writers are less popular, so shop carefully.

DVD writers are getting cheaper and popular, if you are serious on large
data backup (other than use a type drive) on one disc, DVD is the way to go.
there are currently two standard DVD - R or DVD + R, they are not compatible
with each other, so if you get a DVD-R writer, you can only use DVD-R black
disc.

Subject: [PCBUILD] HOW CAN I STORE MAXIMUM DATA ON ONE CD (900 MB OR ABOVE)?

> Dear All,

maximum acceptable data/storage. I have CD writer working very fine. I have
many kinds of CD burning programs but I could not find any solution to get a
maximum data/files copied on to one CD. The maximum writeable capacity shown
in all CD burning programs does not appear more than 700MB whereas I have
900MB writeable CDs.
