I'm sure there may be an overall longevity to toner, but I suspect that
you will use up that toner alot faster than you expect.  One reason for
this is that the 1,000 pages is based on a certain "coverage" of the
paper.  So, if you print a few pictures, it uses up 10-15 times as much
toner as a page with just a few lines of text.  (This is based on a
laser-printer we just got that states the yield is based on 5% coverage.)
