Hello,

I'm having a problem with a Windows 98 computer. I am getting the
following message:

While Initializing Device VKD
Windows Protection Error
You Need To Restart Your Computer

I have handled a problem like this before but not one that is the VKD
error. What is the Device VKD ?
I have searched Microsoft's tech support and it has nothing about this
error.
My next trick after all my attempts failed was to reinstall Windows 98.
When I tried this I would get to the point where setup says "copying files
needed for windows setup" and the computer would quit responding. A cusor
would blink and that is all. All the hardware in the computer checks out ok
with my diagnostic card. Anybody have an answer to this problem

Jim -- I don't know if this is the correct answer or fix to your particular
problem. This error message "generally" is related to keyboard problems.
Pls check this web site and see if any of the info helps,
