Hi,

Though it will probably work ok for a bit, Spend a few dollars more, get
a board and separate chip. Buying an integrated solution, you make it
so there is no upgrade path other than another board and chip later.
That ESC solution costs the dealers under $50.00. ASUSTek has a
division of low cost boards for that market segment called AS Rock. It
is much better quality than ECS.

Good V/A/L boards can be had for $60-70 and the Duron 1200 chip is about
$30-35.

Thanks and have a Great Day!

Hello readers...

I'm looking for input on the reliability of the ECS K7SOM mobo with the
integrated Duron 1.2g processor. This would be a gut and replace venture
from an Intel SB440 slot one mobo with the socket 370 adapter that uses
a 400mb Celeron, which has proven to be quite a workhorse. So far, the
only thing that has gone wrong is burned up fans! I'm just looking to
upgrade a bit and install XP on a slave drive and set it all up in a
dual boot configuration. I'm getting what I feel is a relatively good
price on the mobo combo ($79.00) from a private dealer.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, and thanks in advance!
