Hi,

I wasn't sure whether to post this to PCSOFT or PCBUILD, since this is sort
of a middle-ground (firmware?) question, but here goes:

I've been trying to help a friend figure out why his 56K modem won't connect
above 26K.
It will connect at about 26K if we disable V.90 with the Extra Settings
string of +MS=V34, but won't connect at all if take that string out.

He has a Dell system, and their tech support suggested upgrading the modem
driver. The most recent driver available is about a year old, and I wanted
to determine if he already has the latest before risking a problem by
installing it.

Can anyone tell me how to determine the version of the currently installed
driver? I've tried the More Info... and Driver buttons in the Diagnostics
tab of the Modem window under the Control Panel, but they don't seem to
yield the info.

In case its important, the system is:

     Dell Dimension L500r
     Windows 98
     Aztec(Conexant) MDP3900V-U 56K modem

Thanks for your help,
     Barry
