Junk is not a standard Windows 9x folder. It sounds like someone renamed the recycle folder as junk, which is why you are unable to delete it. If you install Tweakui you can remove its icon from the desktop, but if it is the recycle folder the only way to permanently remove it is to reformat.

>My customer has a folder on the desktop named "Junk". When I try to delete it I get the message --- "Junk is a system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be deleted." I can rename this folder but it has no effect. I deleted it using a DOS boot disk and I could no longer find it using DOS commands. When I reboot to Windows98 SE the folder has mysteriously reappeared. What makes a folder a "System Folder"? How do I delete this thing?
