I doubt if you will see any sign of the scanner anywhere in Windows. I
used to use a hand scanner with a proprietary card and it never showed up
anywhere except in the test utility that came with the driver. To use the
scanner, in addition to the drivers you need a graphics program that will
talk to the driver to store what the scanner sends in. Almost any graphics
program will do except MS Paint. The graphics programs usually support
scanners through an "acquire" option and MS Paint does not have one. There
is a simple free graphics program from Microsoft that will handle scanners
that use a "TWAIN" driver. Unfortunately, I forget the name of it. Most
scanner drivers are "TWAIN" compatible. Most scanners come with a simple
graphics program to handle scanned images. This is probably what
"Scantastic" is.
