Andre, this may sound trivial, and I probably won't be the only one to ask
you, but are you sure the ribbon isn't reversed. When the light stays on at
boot-up, this is often the case. This also means any disk that is read in
this drive will be erased, so be careful not to use any non-replaceable
disks.
