Hi Martha,

It has been a while since I used Win 98, but I seem to remember that a
direct cable connection (NOT ethernet) uses the same subsystem as a dial-up
network. Since W98 does not support two dial-up connections at once, it is
not possible to use ICS when the connection to the other computer is using
DCC.

In this case, I suggest setting up a small network using ethernet cards, You
can use a crossover cable for just two systems so you don't need a hub. Then
ICS will work.

Subject: Re: [PCBUILD] Networking and Internet sharing

Hi David,
I'm not sure what's happening but as soon as I follow the ICS wizard and all
seems to be installed. I can not open any WebPages although I seem to be
connected to the internet; therefore no internet connection sharing is
possible. So as you point out, it seems there are no two network
connections????? How do I set up the second network connection on the host
computer? Do I have to do this manually and if so, can you tell me how to do
this please?

The two PCs are connected by direct cable connection.
Both computers have a network card installed.

TIA, Martha Shade
