Hi Mike,

Tried some of the boot prompt/DOS commands a little
differently, and now I'm getting totally different
readings on 2 of the questions I answered a few days
ago.

1. Comparison of size/dates of Windows system files:

This time I used the boot disk I'd made on Sunday
(12/30) from my computer and booted into DOS. Now what
I'm getting is:

MSDOS.SYS SIZE DATE
----------------------------------------------
DIR A: 9 BYTES 12/30/01
DIR C: 1676 BYTES 12/27/01
DIR C:\WINDOWS 1676 BYTES 4/23/99

CONFIG.SYS SIZE DATE
----------------------------------------------
DIR A: 639 BYTES 4/23/99 DIR C:
             258 BYTES 12/28/01

2. Size of Total Conventional Memory:

I went back and did a MEM /C again too, following the
directions as given in the link you sent me only this
time after hitting the F8 key, I hit SHFT & F5 keys to
get to the Command Prompt Only (instead of
highlighting and selecting option 5) Command Prompt
Only). I don't understand why this startup would give
me a different reading than the the first one I'd sent
you. Anyway, the MEM /C brought up the memory chart
again, but this time the Total Conventional Memory was
654,336.

Sorry if I'm driving you nuts with all this
conflicting info, but pretty much everything I do
seems to bring up different info...

Thanks again,
Ellen Williamson
