The drivers that come with the OS were current when XP was put together, but there may be updated drivers from the manufacturer.  How much of an advantage new drivers provide is very subjective, but the latest drivers from the manufacturer will undoubtedly be more current than the drivers that came with XP unless there have been no updates.
