Hi Peter,

In general, I have had no trouble using PCI video cards on very recent
motherboards, include 3Ghz P4 Xeon based ones and AMD Athlon MP based ones.

It could be that the PCI card is bad, or the motherboard is bad. Almost all
motherboards will generate some beeps if it can't find a video card, so try
it with the card removed. If you get no beeps (make sure the apeaker is
hooked up), then I would suspect that the MB is bad.

Another thing to check are the lock lights on the keyboard (caps, num,
scroll), most motherboards will flash these during POST, another indication
if the MB is alive. If you don't get any activity on those, it would
reinforce that the MB may be bad.

Also check the mounting in the case, make sure nother shorts out, that your
power supply is OK (and the proper type for the motherboard).

There are a lot of variables to check for.
