Hope someone can help.

I've got a desktop with Win98SE and laptop with Win2000 and I want to
be able to transfer programs and data back and forth.  Desktop is
corrupted and has to be wiped so I want everything I can over to the
laptop.  I have connected them with a parallel cord and the both speak
but neither recognizes the other.

Any suggestions or sites to point me towards?
