No Keyboard Input

From time to time I have this problem with no input from the keyboard. I am unable to input text, or use Ctl/Alt/Del for instance.Frustrating.
I have tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling the keyboard to no avail.
Then, usually overnight,the problem disappears.Fortunately, the mouse works fine.
I am running Win98SE on an Athlon machine.
I should be grateful for any advice or solution.
