That's almost correct. I'm running a 300a at 450. Have been for 3 months.
It's a great machine and cost considerably less than a PII 450. A couple of
things. Not all 300a's will do 450. About 80% according to some surveys
will. Many will not do 450 at the standard voltage so you need to be able to
raise it to get the CPU to overclock. I'm using an Abit BH6 which has a
software menu in the bios that lets you set core voltage. I'm not sure
which other boards allow this. My 300a is a boxed version with the stock
heatsink and fan. It runs 450 at 2.0 volts. If your chip needs higher
voltage to run at 450 you may need more cooling.

Good ram is very important. I have Samsung G8 and have had no problems.
Some people have had problems with so called PC100 ram so invest in some
good stuff.

There are places that will pretest the processor for you to assure it will
run at 450. www.minotaur.com is one. You might try reading some news
groups on this if you have access. alt.comp.hardware.overclocking and
alt.comp.hardware.Abit both have a lot of information.

If you just have to run at 450, you ought to get a chip from someone who has
tested it. I just took a chance and was lucky. E-mail me if you need more
info.
