We have a company here that buys up older machines and refits them for students for Internet use. They bought a stack of 56K modems for the refits only to find that they will not run on machines P120 or slower and have been doing a swap offer for those willing to part with their 33k modems. So I think the answer to your question is no.

However someone out there might know of a work around.
