Hi Mike,
I have a Canon MultiPASS 2500 which uses the same BC-20 ink cartridge.
Sometimes, when they are new, they start printing right off, then other
times I have to hit the function key then the cleaning key 7 or 8 times
before they start printing. I had one cartridge that was still half full
refuse to put ink on paper no mater how many times it was cleaned so I took
it back to the store I bought it from and exchanged it for a new one.
