I have had no significant problems setting up AMD K2 systems or Celerons.
I have found the Intel drivers much easier to install then the VIA VP3 chipset
drivers for PCI bridge, bus mastering, etc.  I think the celerons are faster, as
long as you get the ones with 128k cache built-in.
