Microsoft Mouse Problem

I have a Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue (Wireless optical mouse).  When I use it as a USB mouse, every once in a while it 1)blinks the screen 2)flashes the word "Cut" on the screen 3)causes an error beep 4)if I am using Word or Note Pad it will change a character in the document.  If I use the mouse with a USB to PS/2 converer it works fine.  I upgraded the mouse driver from 4.?? to 5.1.26 with no help.

I can use a Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse in the USB port and it works fine.

I have an emachine computer running Windows XP service pack 2.
