This may just be an operator error and not a configuration problem.  There
are some programs that do not automatically switch back to the DEFAULT
printer after you print to some other printer.

WordPerfect is a good example of this.  Even though the DEFAULT printer is
a laser (for example), if the operator switches to print on a different
printer (say a wide carriage dot matrix), then WP will continue to use
that same printer until the operator manually switches back to the true
defualt printer.  OR until WordPerfect is closed and restarted.  (It will
always start out with the DEFAULT printer.)
