I had this type of problem on Friday, October 5, 2001 shortly after my GeForce 2 MX video card arrived that day when changing from Voodoo 3 3000 AGP to a GeForce 2 MX 200 on my Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard. It is because the video card is not seated all the way correctly EVEN when it looks seated far in enough. You must at least do this before you assume the motherboard is incompatible and/or the video card is defective first: Press the video card very firmly again EVEN when it appears that the video card is seated in all the way! (even when you can't see the video card contacts). Well, despite I seen the report post that stated Soyo M/B problem, which was about the GeForce video card having no video after been working fine for at least one year. That was probably a Soyo SY-6BA motherboard. But I think he
said it just "died". That could just easily be that his motherboard was defective, because I think that person mentioned, even when he got the replacement of the exact same motherboard model (SY-6BA),it worked fine? Maybe that Soyo motherboard model does have a incompatiblilty with GeForce video cards (Can maybe be fixed with a
BIOS flash?)(BIOS update). But my Soyo SY-K7VTA-B has no problem(motherboard/BIOS related) with the GeForce 2 MX 200 that I installed 2 weeks ago. It's initialising and working just fine with my Soyo SY-K7VTA-B
motherboard.
