John;
 a yahoo search with your bios numbers 2A59GS2GC-00
shows a Soyo motherboard - Soyo Sy 5vd2/d5
 http://www.wimsbios.com/ is a site to check bios numbers
don't see any info on this board at Soyo's website
http://www.soyo.com.tw/product.htm
look under "history product" you may find more on a websearch
than on their webpage.
You can always use the partitioning software that is designed for your brand
of drive.
to install it on your system.

Subject: [PCBUILD] advice please

Dear sir,
My PC will not detect a new hard drive (40gig).
I gather it could be the bios that needs upgrading.
These are the details of mother board etc. I have managed to glean obviously
it is an old machine.
Pentium-MMX CPU @ 188Mhz
Award modular bios v4.51PG
Award plug and play bios extension v1.0A
