The books all seem to say that when this happens, the first thing to do is
clean the tape heads.

"I have a PIII, 128 MB Ram 30 Gig WD HDD being used as a server on a
peer-to-peer network with 3 other computers. I am using a Sony external
10
gig backup.

It is set up to run at night (2 am after Norton scan) and it used to run
fine. Now, it locks up, won't finish running the backup and when it
goes
to compare, it indicates that almost every file backed up has been
altered
or is inaccessible since backing up.

ANY ideas would be appreciated."

Thank you.
