This happens when the BIOS is set NOT to do a Fast post.
Fast posting skips a lot of the hardware testing, but has
the downside of not always giving the Hard Drive a chance
to "spin-up", especially as it ages.
If you want to Fast post, by all means do so.  But keep that
setting in mind later if/when the system develops problems
booting from a TOTALLY cold start.
PS: My system tests the memory three times.
