Hi Brad

A device's SCSI ID has absolutely no bearing on where along the SCSI
bus the device should be placed. The only essential thing is that the
last device on the cable must be terminated.

So when you shuffle the order of devices along the cable (as you did),
there's no need to change the SCSI IDs on any of the devices.

It would make sense to put a hard drive with its superior quality
termination at the end of the cable...and leave it there until you
retire that drive.

Regards,
Bill

I have just installed a new Plextor 40X CD-ROM and a Plextor 121032CD-RW
all SCSI on a new added AVA2906 Adaptec. Since I had everything apart, I
wanted to rearrange the drives in the case. I set about to reassign ID's
for the HDDs so I could place them where it would be more convenient and
logical in the case with the addition of the new CD drives.
