I have a problem reconnecting to the internet. I boot up, connect and
everything is okay, but if I disconnect but leave my PC running, then try to reco
nnect I get all sorts of messages like "There is no dial tone" "Connection has
failed" The only way I can go back online is to restart my PC.
Can anyone explain what is happening and how to rectify the problem?

Dorthy,
I had the same problem plus sporadically loosing connection. First thought
it was phone cable connection because replacing the cable fixed it for a
time. But when it started again I removed and reseated the modem and all has
worked fine since. Hope your problem is as simple to remedy.
