  Some 2940 models reportedly had problems running in systems at 75 MHz and 83
MHz, because on all but the most expensive motherboards these speeds overclock
the PCI bus to 37 MHz and 41 MHz respectively (FSB/2).
  Generally, 100 MHz systems use FSB/3 for PCI, getting it back to the nice
33 MHz spec that the 2940 was designed for.  Should not be any problem.

  I believe the problems I've seen involved a lead going into the amplifier
on the sound card, acting as an antenna and picking up electrical signals in
the <20KHz range, such as the mouse's clock pulse.  I think this might have
been worse with (cheap) headphones plugged in....
