Assuming you have completely removed NT, yes, you can put Win98 on a computer that had an NT system. You must insure that the NTFS partition is replaced by an active DOS partition, as Win98 will not go onto a NTFS partition. If it still won't run setup after this, then I will need more information about your computer to help you out. FDISK on a floppy should be able to remove all non-dos partitions.
