Hi,

Since it is a Maxtor drive, it is the first thing I would check out. The

Diagnosis download would be a good place to start. I've had too many

maxtors retire out after one year of service.

You may want to check the Bios of the main board and do a couple of things:

1) if the S.M.A.R.T. drive detection is disabled, enable it. It will then

report errors it finds with the Drive.

2) if there is a setting for hard drive delay, increase it. It will make

the BIOS loof for the drive for a longer time, giving the drive time to spin

up to proper speed.

and of course:

3) BACK UP WHAT"S IMPORTANT TO YOU THAT YOU CAN"T REPLACE!

Good luck

Joe

  Hello All,

Over the last month or so, upon booting up computer a screen has shown up

with "No Hard Drive Found".

After re-booting, it worked fine. This has happened 2-3 times. Tonite, I

had to re-boot twice. Is this a warning of things to come? AMD AthlonXP

1700+ Maxtor 5T040H4 40GB HD 1.024RAM Windows XP Home SP-2 Build 2600
