I noticed a post earlier from someone who was having hard drive failures on
a 233 Mhz, I am using a Gateway P5 133XL, upgraded with a Intel overdrive
processor at 200 Mhz, with 80 megs of ram, and the original 1.6 WD Caviar
HD.
I believe someone said to reduce memory, mine runs great on Win95A with my
80 megs. Gateway told me sometime earlier that my board would only support
up to a 8 gig HD. My board is Ameri Trends brothers with bios at 1.010.01.
Someone else suggested that the board would not support the bigger HD's.
This is the correct answer I believe according to what I was told by
Gateway. Therefore that is the reason I have not tried to update my 9 bay
case with new boards etc, with all I would have to change it is cheaper to
keep this one as is and buy a new one in summer, prices are coming down so
that is the most viable option, Anyhow, the problem with the failure of
large HD's is what was posted earlier, just too much for the original
motherboard which has not the resources to run them. . Just my opinion and
experience
