I'm always amazed when I see the advice to deltree \Windows. The people
that give it rarely mention that the person who follows it will have a
LOT of clean-up to do afterwards, and they may never have a fully
functioning system again, at least until they wipe everything and start
over.

You should be able to rename your C: volume to whatever you had before.
The volume name is pretty much limited to human use.

During the reinstall process, be careful to select the exact same
installation folder as the originals used. However, the two programs
should probably run OK regardless of where you installed them, as long
as you can spare all of the wasted drive space. By specifying the same
folder as was originally used, you won't have two separate copies
installed, (only one of which would probably be functional).

IMHO, the best option is to locate and save any of YOUR DATA files that
you need to preserve, including email, documents, certain prefs or ini
files, etc. Once those are moved to another drive, reformat the C: drive
and start over. Alternatively, you might try a selective restore from
your most current backup set, if it exists. If neither of those options
suits you, your best bet is to continue to reinstall each application
'on top of itself' and rebuild your system that way.

I don't personally know of anyone who has recovered completely from a
\Windows deltree. Good luck.
