Physically, the PDA needs to be able to accommodate a wireless card.
(Some PDAs may start building this in, but for now they come in PCMCIA and
CF ("Compact Flash") formats.)
  Software-wise, the PDA needs a driver.  This may be included in the PDA
OS, or included with the wireless card, usually on a CD to be read by a PC
and downloaded via a cradle or other existing interface.

  My Linksys WCF12 wireless card came with a driver and instructions for
PocketPC PDAs.  But my Sharp Zaurus runs Linux, and recognized it
immediately without needing to download a driver.

  (You'll need network-capable applications on the PDA, such as a browser,
to actually *use* the connection for anything.)
