Yes you do need the rails for your case. These would have been required even
if you
Were going to install a 5-1/4" drive.  Your universal kit just bolts on to a
3-1/2" drive
to make it the same size as a 5-1/4" drive.  Any mounting brackets required
by your
case are extra.
