Joel, you don't tell us the symptoms
so we'll just have to accept your diagnosis,
but IMHO hardware that runs Win95 happily
can't have a lot wrong with it.

Are you sure you don't have a flaky disk drive
or slackened HD power connectors?

I knew a server once that had to have its HD power connectors
squeezed tighter once or twice a year, or the drive wouldn't
start reliably, and I've known it help workstations too though
it should be less of a problem with modern lower power drives.

And I've known moribund drives that needed a good twist 'n shake
to get them started. (Hint: back up NOW!)

Idea #1
I don't know what it's like in your neck of the woods, but I would
look for a small ad from a local dealer offering computer upgrades
and ask them what they do with the motherboards they take out.

Idea #2
Over here in the UK we have 'Radio Rallies' where radio hams and
homebuild enthusiasts buy and sell used and surplus stuff.
There's one most months. Of course ours are all pretty close and
accessible and the USA is so much bigger, but it might be worth
checking with a local radio ham to see if there is one nearby.

Idea #3
Use DejaNews www.dejanews.com to trawl the 'for sale' newsgroups.
For casual use or in-depth searching it's much better than the
normal method of subscribing using a Usenet newsreader.
