I agree with the "heat" diagnosis below...
But having recently had a heat related problem on two
VERY similar computers (to each other), I can attest that
the monitoring software can only give an very "crude"
attempt at measuring things... (Especially on my AMD CPU
based MBs.)

I wound up positively IDing the problem as a slightly screwed
up Northbridge Chipset MB fan, (replaced with ball bearing)
and/or the "pink" AMD phase change bubblegum CPU heat
transfer gunk wore out...

I went back to normal thermal grease since on test systems
in a full production environment over a 2 1/2 year period,
the thermal grease seemed to hold up better...
(This was on systems in the 1.7+ to 2.5+G CPUs only...)
YMMV...

(I think I will do "grease jobs" on my computers on a two
year cycle in the future...)
