Ron,

There are two important frequencies that the video card produces. Most
displays have a tolerance to variation of them to some extent. One is the
vertical refresh. In CRT monitors this may vary from 50Hz to 80 Hz. This
determines the refresh rate of the image on the screen, the other frequency
is the horizontal scan which determines the number of lines on the display.
When you see an Out of Range message it means the flat screen is basically
overwhelmed because one or more of these frequencies is too high for the
circuitry in the flat screen to derive an image. Find out "native" or
designed in frequency and set your video card accordingly. It will magically
start working.

I JUST INSTALLED A NEW FLAT SCREEN ON MY COMPUTER WITH XP AND ALL I GET IS A
BOX THAT READS " OUT OF RANGE ". CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT OUT OF RANGE IS
REFERING TO? I INSTALLED THIS MONITOR ON ANOTHER COMPUTER  WITH THE SAME
CONFIGURATION AND IT WORKS FINE. I PUT IT ON ANOTHER COMPUTER THAT HAS VISTA
ON IT AND GOT THE SAME OUT OF RANGE  MESSAGE. THANKS   RON
