It sounds as if the floppy drive you downloaded the BIOS fix to is slightly
misaligned with respect to the A: drive in the system you are trying to fix.
Try "r" for retry several times - it may be close enough to eventually "get
the message".  If not, try copying it from another drive.  As a last resort,
you can move the floppy from the "bad" system to the "good" (temporarily)
and back.  It can't help but be aligned with itself!

I presume that you have tried one of the commercial floppy cleaning disks.
