I'm not familiar with Micron laptops but I imagine that they bring some sort of
recovery CD that will setup the system back to it's original state. Even if
that's not the case you can install Windows again some other way. With that in
mind you can do this. Is is not the solution your looking for but it will work
nonetheless. Backup to a file with the Backup built into Windows, then copy the
file to your USB drive. If you ever need to restore, after windows is up and
running and your USB drive connected copy the file to your C drive and restore
from there. Crude but will work till you find what your looking for.
