Hi! :)

I believe the maximum cable length for IDE / EIDE devices in 18 Inches /
45 Cm. According to
http://www.zdnet.co.uk/pcdir/content/feb1998/storage/secret.html, "It
(EIDE) was also designed as a straight swap for other IDE drives, so it
uses the same controllers and cables with the same maximum length limit
of 18in." There is also a bit more info in the Linux Disk HOWTO under
3.5 - Cabling. (This is available in a few places... The one I looked at
was from http://www.rune.org/LDP/HOWTO/Multi-Disk-HOWTO-3.html)

If anyone would like these docs and does not have full web access,
please toss me a private e-mail and I shall send them to you.

HTH! :)
