I recently completed a windows update and upgraded to direct X 9. The computer is a Dell OptiPlex G1. The mother board is an Intel 440bx chipset. Since then I have no sound nor do I even have a speaker icon in the systems tray anymore. I have reinstall windows 98 twice, changed soundcards and even downloaded and run the Intel systems utility update software. What the heck is causing this. I did delete the system processor under system devices in the device manager because it had a yellow ! beside it with the error message "Could not load device driver ntkern.vxd CODE 2". Thats what prompted me downloading the Intel system utility hopeing to reinstall it. No luck though. Does anyone know a solution to this. :(
