Hi,

Try logging into the computer using the F-8 key loading the computer in the safe mode.
If you are lucky that you can use the (administrator) username and a blank password.
If that gets you in than go to the control panel and choose (user accounts)
Next change or remove the password for the account user whatever the name is owner
fred john etc...............and you should now be able to restart the computer and get to the desktop.
  Hope that works.........................
P.S. There is a website that will tell you the password I think it takes 48hrs for no charge.

My son-in-law has been given a computer through an organization which has replaced their computers with newer ones. It has Windows XP. It has a Windows logon password, but no one in the organization remembers the password. Perhaps the person who last used the computer is no longer a volunteer for the organization. Is there a way to remove all old data and informaton from the hard drive and delete the Windows logon password without wiping out Windows XP and having to buy a new copy?
