        Hi.
First, start the easy way. You can try the LPT port included, to
see if something in the card is working.
Then, put "monochrome" in bios setup, to see if you get boot
on the monochrome monitor.
Next, in DOS or in a W95 DOS session enter "mode mono", and see
if you switch monitors. Check "x=b000-b7ff" in your EMM386 line. You
can also check memory at b000:0000 and on with DEBUG. If you only have Linux,
check with a DOS floppy.
With Linux, perhaps you can get a virtual text terminal at the
monochrome, but I don't know how (tell me if you find out). There are
some X servers that admit an Hercules; they are buggy, but at least
you get something on the screen. For X, you need an old Hercules; pure
MDA won't work, since it is only text.

Starting point: (-1)^(-1) = -1
Applying logarithms: (-1)*ln(-1) = ln(-1)
Since ln(-1) <> 0, dividing: -1 = 1
     (ln(-1) is complex, but exists)
