Thanks to Bill for his advice and link to the tech tips.
Since I have experienced problems in the past with MB upgrade, I am using a
separate case for this upgrade. To minimize hardware swaps in the existing
case, I will follow the procedures in the link for the new HD in the new
case by booting with the Windows 98 startup disk and eliminating/renaming
directories. I should be able to access the Registry keys by exporting the
Registry to a text file. It should be fun and if it doesn't work out, I
still have my old configuration.
