Hello PCBUILDers,

I have a problem with a Panasonic PD Drive ( Model LF 1004) that's driving
me bonkers. I've used this drive for the last half-year without any trouble.
As I use this drive only periodically I didn't realize I had a problem until
recently. When I tried to write to a cartridge I have been using to store
apps
on, I got a write-protected error. I went through all the steps I could
think of, to no avail:

1) Checked the write-protect tab on the PD-cartridge
2) Checked if the Media was full
3) Set the attributes of the entire cartridge to write-enabled
4) Tried another PD-cartridge
5) Took the PD-drive and the SCSI-controller out of the device manager and
(in the case of the SCSI cntroller) out of the INF-directory
6) Reinstalled the newest SCSI driver for the Adaptec 2940
7) Reinstalled EZ-SCSI 5
8) Checked SCSI termination and settings.
9) Made sure I had no IRQ conflicts
There is no problem reading the cartridges, but the computer won't write to
them. I have this sort of "Time to reinstall windows" feeling in the gut.
For what its worth, my system config :

DFI P5BV3+ rev. B MOBO
AMD K6/2 400 MHz
128 MB PC 100 SDRAM
IDE Primary Channel
    Master: IBM DHEA-38451
    Slave: Delta OPC-K101 40X CD-ROM
Adpatec 2940 UW SCSI PCI ID #7
    #0 IBM DCAS-32160W
    #2 Panasonic PD-Drive
    #3 Wangdat 3200 DAT-streamer
    #4 Yamaha 4260 CD-RW
    #5 IBM DCAS-34330
Diamond Viper 330 AGP
Miro Highscore 3D-2 Voodoo 2 PCI
3COM Etherlink 3 -XL PCI
Aztech PCI338-A3D soundcard
Elsa Quickstep 1000 ISDN (ISA)
Dualboot Win98/Linux System

I would be VERY thankful for any suggestions.
