Charly,
It sounds as if your bios settings have been changed.  In setup you will
normally have a choice as to boot drive order.  Originally, you were set
to boot from a then c.  Evidently you are now set up to boot from c then
form a.  With this setting, you boot from your hard drive before your
machine realizes there is a non-boot disk in your a drive.  This setting
is usually a little faster, but you do not have the ability to boot from
a startup disk in case of problems.
