You can't update the driver using Win 98 drivers. You'll have to go to the manufacturer's web site to download updated drivers for it, and if you can't find them there then go to www.drivers.com.  You could also try going to www.google.com and typing in the name of your soundcard.  First try removing your soundcard in device manager (right click on "my computer" and choose "properties"). Doubleclick sound and multimedia, then highlight your soundcard and click remove, then yes. Restart your computer and try to reinstall the drivers you have.  Another possibility is to boot into safe mode, go to device manager and check whether you have multiple installs of your soundcard.  If so, remove everything related to your soundcard, then restart.  You should get a new hardware found screen from which you can install the old drivers or the new ones if you found them.
