I need some help. My Gateway 200 MMX system using W98 usually boots up
fine. But occasionally it gets aborted partway through the bootup
sequence. The last few lines on the screen are:

Floppy A: Installed
Bad PnP Serial ID Checksum: ,Device ID 2G***, Serial number E980E980
[where the *** indicates Greek letters]
Press <F1> for setup, <Esc> to boot

When I press <Esc>, it appears to boot okay from that point. But when I
try to access the Internet via my ISP, I get the message "Unable to
establish a connection".

After I restart Windows, it seems to work fine. Any ideas on what is
happening? Thanks.
