I've reposted this because I still need help. I did get a reply to this
about checking the power supply and that is fine.

Subject: Intermittent Lockup

I've developed a problem that's stumping me. My computer locks up at random
times just after it has booted up.
It also seemed to be running slower and slower. I had upgraded to WIN98
about two years ago.
So, I decided to completely start from fresh and reformatted the HD and
installed a Full version of WIN98.
I am still getting the lockups. They occur within 3 minutes of booting up.
While the system is working, it's running significantly faster. I also
installed a Microsoft Intellimouse just before the reformat.

What do I need to look for to troubleshoot this frustrating problem?

SYSTEM:

4 years old
WIN98
4.3 gig Quantam HD
2.1 gig WD HD
48 Meg Ram
100MhZ Pentium Classic
IBM Aptiva.

Fred Hahnel
